How it started

Every mistake possible.
Then an idea.

It all started with a TikTok video. I watched someone build a miniature house, brick by brick, using real mini bricks and a concrete foundation. It looked simple, satisfying, and strangely addictive. After spending my days in front of a screen, I realised I was craving something completely different - something tactile, creative, and made by hand.

"How hard could it be?" I thought. So, I decided to give it a shot.

Mistakes

The Trial-and-Error

I started by ordering some mini bricks online, but when they arrived, they were barely the size of a fingernail — much smaller than anything I’d seen in those videos. Then came the concrete. I tried using a regular, full-scale concrete mix, only to discover it was far too grainy to lay the tiny bricks neatly and far too brittle for a miniature foundation. Turns out, building at this scale is a completely different game. Materials that work perfectly for a full-size house don't necessarily work when your entire wall fits in the palm of your hand.

Mastering the Materials

I finally cracked the code on the perfect concrete mix for the base and the ideal mortar for laying bricks. To tackle the bricks themselves, my friend Egils helped 3D print custom brick designs so I could pour silicone molds and cast uniform bricks from scratch.

The realisation

Once I finally figured it out...

After testing countless techniques, the right materials and methods finally clicked. The house came together. And then one thought hit me: it would have been so nice to skip all that frustrating trial and error with a simple starter kit.

And so Tiny Buildz was born
